I informed her I’m not leaving without being paid the jackpot or my original $2000 back. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the 23 year old unprofessional kid told me she was the supervisor and I needed to leave. At this point I’ll admit I became a little upset because I felt like I was being straight up robbed. I informed them they had bad information and I’m unfamiliar with the address on the letter as I’ve never lived in Duluth. They couldn’t tell me what I did wrong back in 2010. 20 minutes later two kids with security badges approached me and handed me a letter saying I was banned from the casino for poor behavior 10 years ago and I needed to leave their property immediately and they would not be paying the jackpot. A host collected my ID and information and told me she would be back to pay it.

It’s a modest hit betting $15 a spin but put me almost even so I was stoked. I was about $2000 into one of their high stakes slots when it gave up a $1650 jackpot.

As a high stakes gambler I’m used to being catered to and treated exceptionally well almost everywhere I choose to play. I happened to have a meeting in Duluth and some time to kill so I stopped in for some action. Next time I will stay at a lower priced hotel in Cloquet (5 minute drive) and eat and gamble at Black Bear.I’m a businessman who travels a lot for work and occasionally enjoy some high stakes action. This 12 floor property only had one ice machine located on a smoking floor. They ran out of hot water for the shower one evening. True for the casino, which was very nice, but some floors were smoking floors and they stunk to high heaven. The sign up front advertised “ 100 % Smoke Free”. I was here two nights and they didn’t clean up our room so I had to call them.

No fridge, no microwave, and the typical small shower tub combo you get at a Super 8 for half the cost. First off, at $140 a night I expected a nicer, bigger room. The restaurant was so good I am fine with overlooking the following criticisms.But if they fixed these the experience would be so much better. The casino gives you $5 on the free players card so that’s a nice perk. Most items on their high end steak menu were $30 to $35 and all their fancy appetizers were $10. We ate here two nights, the prime rib was fabulous and the crab crake appetizer was wonderful. Great food, incredibly reasonable prices, and fast and friendly service. The good: The Seven Fires Steakhouse was fabulous.
